Dr Nana Abena Kwansa

Assistant Professor of Finance

Nana Abena Kwansa is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Edinburgh Business School. She received a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh), an MSc in Finance from the University of Strathclyde (UK) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Coast (Ghana).

Nana Abena is a member of the Centre for Finance and Investment and her research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance and international finance. She is particularly interested in exploring the impact of capital structure, corporate governance, internationalisation and financial constraints on corporate decisions.

Background

Prior to this role, Nana Abena had several years of experience in academia as an Adjunct Lecturer and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Heriot-Watt University and a Teaching Assistant at the University of Cape Coast. She also worked as a financial analyst for an investment banking firm in Ghana which specialised in debt and equity issue and financial advisory. Her industry experience is the motivation behind her current research interests in corporate finance, corporate governance and corporate investment decisions.
