Olugbenga Abraham Babajide

Olugbenga Abraham Babajide is currently a PhD student at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He obtained his BSc (Hons) in Psychology and MSc in Business Psychology with Human Resources Management at Heriot-Watt University. To gain industrial experience, he has worked on the motivation of job seekers towards data literacy skills for employment opportunities, as a PhD Intern (through the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences [SGSSS]) on The Data Lab (TDL) project. The TDL project is part of the Data Skills for Work strand of the Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) Skills Gateway, funded by the Scottish Government through the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal.

Background

His PhD research focuses on improving disability inclusion for academics living with Chronic fatigue ill-health in the UK, as part of the Disability Inclusive Science Careers (DISC) project. The research involves an evaluation of emerging data from the DISC research activities (through an Ethnographic, Netnographic account and analysis of interviews) as well as exploring the lived experience of academics living with chronic fatigue ill-health to cohesively improve disability inclusion in organisational culture for disabled academics in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and British higher education institutions (HEIs). Abraham is working under the supervision of Prof. Kate Sang and Dr James Richards. The DISC project is led by Prof. Sang and aims to enhance the recruitment, retention and progression of postdoctoral disabled scientists through participatory action research designed to support employers with disability inclusion.
