Heriot-Watt University Dubai has developed a series of “Engineer for a Day,” workshops to give participants an opportunity to explore various engineering disciplines. Select a workshop of your choice and engage in a creative learning experience.

Sustainability Engineer for a Day

Interested in Sustainability engineering?

In this workshop, you will learn how to design your own apparatus to produce drinking water from various water sources or even harvest moisture from the air! Investigate how to make it a continuous process and get insight into the parameters that increase yield. Participate in this workshop and experience what it feels like to be a Sustainability Engineer for a Day and get insights into the associated engineering challenges and solutions.

Civil Engineer for a Day

In this workshop you will experience how to utilize your knowledge to transform imagination of architects into reality. Experience the route taken to plan, design and manage large construction projects. Civil Engineers design and build airports, harbours, tunnels, and roads for the smooth transfer of people and goods from one destination to another. They design and build dams, water treatment plants and water supply systems. Civil Engineers make life better for us by creating a safer, comfortable built environment.

Design Engineer for a Day

Interested in Design Engineering?

Join us as we take you through the process of Concept Generation to Computer Aided Design, including demonstrations of Advanced Manufacturing Techniques. This workshop will give you insight into the approach an engineer takes to design new products and guide you in designing and manufacturing your own product.

Automation Engineer for a Day

Interested in Automation solutions?

This session will take you through the process of task automation as used in manufacturing, logistics, and many other industries using automation tools such as robotic arms. Students will be provided with insights into the approach an engineer takes to design an automation solution, along with support to develop and test your own automated station.
