Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society
The School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) is one of the UK’s leading for multidisciplinary research and teaching in areas critical to economic development and societal equity; with a focus on the core disciplines that contribute to a sustainable, resource and energy efficient society.
Engineering and Physical Sciences
At the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, world-class research meets real-world impact. Renowned internationally for excellence, we foster strong partnerships with leading industries and professional communities across science, engineering, and technology. The School offers taught and research opportunities in the disciplines of Bioscience, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering
Mathematical and Computer Sciences
The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) has an excellent international research reputation in Mathematics, Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Computer Science. By collaborating with industry and academic partners, MACS plays a pivotal role in supporting Heriot-Watt’s globally renowned research institutes (see below). This ensures that MACS research has both theoretical significance and real-world impact, contributing to the university’s mission of advancing global innovation and societal benefit.
Social Sciences
The School of Social Sciences comprises of Edinburgh Business School, and the disciplines of Language, Intercultural Studies and Psychology. The largest academic school of Heriot-Watt specialising in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching informed by impactful research and industry partnerships.
Textiles and Design
With a rich heritage spanning over 140 years, the School of Textiles has long been a pioneer in design innovation. Situated at the heart of Scotland's textile industry, the school is a leading education and research institution with specialist resources and industry standard production equipment that are amongst the best in the UK.
Global College
No matter where or what the starting point is, the Global College helps and supports students to find their pathway onto a career focused degree. With Bachelors Accelerator programmes, the Global College prepares students for progression to their chosen Heriot-Watt degree.
