1. Username and Password
Once you have completed the enrolment process you will be issued with a confirmation letter which provides your HWU username and password. Note: your email is in the format abc123@hw.ac.uk and your username is abc123.
Allow up to 24 hours after enrolling for your account to be activated. Change your password to something you will remember that meets our password policy:

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an additional layer of security you need to access HWU systems and resources. It protects you and Heriot-Watt University from un-authorised access to your account, which may occur if you only use a username and password.
Using your own personal device is the most secure way to use MFA as only you have access to the device, and it is protected by a passcode.
