Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering
The Institute of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering (IMPEE) is a dynamic, multidisciplinary research institute focused on promoting excellence across our main research themes: Biomedical Engineering, Computational & Digital Engineering, Energy Harvesting and Conversion, and Multiphase Flow.
Much of our work involves strong industrial links across a range of sectors and through our expertise, skills and experience, we work together with industry to identify new areas of interest.
We offer a stimulating environment for study and research, with a lively community of over 30 academics and around 90 postgraduates and research staff, supported by state-of-the-art laboratory and workshop facilities. These include the Centre for Carbon Capture and Storage (CICCS), the Brent Wilson Advanced Manufacturing Unit (AMU), the High Performance Computing (HPC) unit, High Power Laser Machining, Renewable Energy Test Site, Rapid Manufacturing Design Studio (RMDS) and a Focused Ion Beam (FIB) facility.
