Retention Strategy
The University has put in place a 2016 Retention Strategy and Operational Plan, the key theme of which is “Retention is Everyone’s Responsibility”. The Strategy and Plan are structured around Four Key Principles:
- The Retention Strategy aims to improve the student experience across the whole Heriot-Watt community.
- Student retention is a responsibility of the whole University: all areas of the University will collaborate to address retention issues and to cultivate a strong sense of identity, belonging and community amongst students.
- There will be no unnecessary impediments to students seeking to change programmes, since retaining students within the University is a higher priority than retaining students within any School/discipline.
- Improvement of student retention will be widely embedded in University processes and functions.
The development and implementation of the Retention Strategy and Operational Plan are managed by the Learning and Teaching Board. Please contact Dr Maggie King for further information.
