The school organises the following series of research seminars, the links below will take you to a calendar of events for each series.
|Actuarial and Financial Mathematics
|The AFM seminar series covers frontier research topics in Actuarial and Financial Mathematics with presentations given by internal and external speakers.
|The topics covered in the seminar are in Analysis in the broad sense (analysis of PDE, calculus of variations, harmonic analysis, spectral theory).
|Applied and Computational Mathematics
|The ACM Seminar mostly covers topics in applied analysis, numerical analysis, mathematical modeling, and data-driven methods. It is a joined seminar with the University of Edinburgh.
|Computer Science Seminar Series
|Theo Georgiou and Mehdi Rizvi
|Heriot-Watt University and University of Edinburgh run a Computer Science Seminar Series on behalf of the CS department, the National Robotarium and Edinburgh Centre for Robotics. We invite leading researchers and industry experts from Scotland, rest of the UK as well as internationally. The seminar series are organised twice monthly and is usually hosted at the Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh campus or the University of Edinburgh.
|Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group (EPMG)
|A seminar series organised by EMPG, a part of Maxwell institute, focused on mathematical physics. We invite speakers from across the globe working on mathematical physics to broaden our scientific horizons.
|Lab for AI Verification (LAIV)
|LAIV seminars provide a forum for AI, machine learning, verification, programming language, security and legal experts to meet and discuss the state of the art and future directions in Verification of AI.
|Mathematics of Information & Data Science (MINDS)
|Research seminars and group meetings of the Mathematics of Information and Data Science (MINDS) group.
|Algebra, geometry, and topology seminar series, with an emphasis on geometric group theory.
|Maxwell Institute Probability Seminars (MIPS)
|Joint probability seminar of the Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh.
|Technology Enhanced Mathematical Sciences Education (TEMSE)
|The TEMSE seminar series invites speakers covering a broad spectrum of educational research within higher education mathematics, statistics and data science.
