Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood

Speakers of the highest calibre are the focus of the Principal's Distinguished Lectures

The Principal’s Distinguished Lectures are an opportunity to welcome speakers of the highest calibre from the worlds of industry, business and academia -  including our own global campuses - to share their experiences, thoughts and ideas for the future.

Distinguished Lecture by our Pro-Chancellor of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood

We're excited to welcome staff, students and alumni to a Distinguished Lecture at Heriot-Watt University by our Pro-Chancellor of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood, on the topic: Planetary Health or Human Extinction? The choice is ours.

"Planetary Health offers us a lens of looking at all the complex contributions of environment, politics, social and health on people’s lives. Unless we address Planetary Health and make this a priority, we will always be trying to catch up with more crises, more pandemics, more disasters, and more suffering for everyone. Education plays such an important role in our shared understanding. We all deserve an environment and a planet that is healthier than what it is now."

Join Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood at 5.30pm on our Edinburgh campus for a reception followed by the Lecture at 6.00pm to 8.00pm. There are a limited number of seats for staff, students and alumni, book your ticket today by registering on Eventbrite at this link.

The Lecture will be recorded and made available online after the event.
