Hi! I’m John. I graduated from the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences in July 2021 with a BEng in Chemical Engineering; it was a fantastic experience filled with challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic in my 3rd and 4th years, I’m very proud of my accomplishment and now I’ve started as a Student Success Advisor I’m ready to help students through their university time. I know first-hand how difficult being a student can be and how good finally being awarded a degree feels, and I can’t wait to play a part in students feeling the same.

Heriot-Watt highlight

On the Friday of Welcome Week, I felt a little homesick, but I had picked up a flyer for Heriot-Watt Medieval Society stating they run their sessions on Saturdays, so to get out of my room at halls I went and had a blast, I kept coming back and got to know the people in the society, and I made some amazing friends. I ended up going to perform with them all over and as far as Caerphilly in Wales, and to this day the folks I met there are some of my closest friends, I think its amazing that experiences like that are common at Heriot-Watt and it’s a place where friendships like that can be found so easily.
