Chris Pirie is the Student Systems Manager within Global Information Services at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and is an elected Member of Court, the University's governing body. He leads a team of Business and Support Analysts to manage, maintain and develop a range of student administration systems for 30,000 students and 3,000 staff covering five campuses and online learners.

In previous roles, Chris worked within the Academic Registry, co-ordinating key events in the academic calendar such as in person enrolment for 8,000 students. As a student, he was Vice-President for Education and Welfare at the Heriot-Watt University Students Association and spoke at national policy conferences to audiences of over 2,500 on topics such as education, student welfare and equality, diversity and inclusion.

When he is not rescuing colleagues from IT emergencies, Chris is an avid sewist, knitter and craft supply collector. He is permitted house room by an 8kg Norwegian Forest cat, Professor Ivor von Wigglesworth.

As well as Court, Chris is a member of the Infrastructure Committee.
