Tilted Ground book launch with Alyson Hallett
Join us on Thursday 20 May as we hear from Alyson Hallett, our 2019 Poet in Residence and author of the recently published ‘Titled Ground’ – a series of poems written during her residency in the Lyell Centre, School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society.
Alyson will discuss wellbeing, stones, field trips, what it's like to be in residence, and she will read some of her poems in a conversation with Emeritus Professor Patrick Corbett.
Recent Chair of Court’s 2020 Poetry prize-winner Rosie Russell of our wellbeing service will read her winning poem.
This event is sure to enlighten the audience in describing what its like to set up and participate in a poetry residency in a University – an environment where heritage, passion, research and teaching all come together in a rich broth. Alyson, the renowned Stone Poet, also considers the ethics of geoscience through a perceptive poet’s eye.
