Talent in Conversation with Douglas Stuart
Talent in Conversation kicks off with 2020 Booker Prize winning author and Heriot-Watt alumnus, Douglas Stuart.
We are delighted to invite you to the first event in our new series ‘Talent in Conversation’. This new series will feature alumni from our School of Textiles and Design being interviewed by our very own Honorary Professor, Sheila-Mary Carruthers, on Wednesday 2 December at 7pm GMT.
Our first event will feature alumnus and Watt Club Medal winner Douglas Stuart, who studied Textiles and graduated in 1998. Douglas has had a fascinating career to date, moving to New York and working for as Senior Designer for Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. 2020 has been an incredible year for Douglas as his debut novel, Shuggie Bain, was published to international critical acclaim and has been awarded the 2020 Booker Prize.
This event will feature a discussion between Professor Carruthers and Douglas as they explore his experiences of studying at Heriot-Watt University, starting his career, advice for today’s students and the journey that led him to write his debut novel.
This event will be recorded and everyone that registers for the event will receive a copy of the recording.
Please register your place as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
