Introduction and club history
The Heriot-Watt Netball Club encourages netball both competitively and on a recreational level.
We have three teams which take part in the BUCS League and one which plays in the CENA (City of Edinburgh Netball Association) league.
The club has been gradually expanding over the past few years and we hope to continue this in the future. No previous experience of netball is necessary and we would encourage anyone to come along and have a go!
Our club charter
We aim to provide the following service to all our members:
- To provide an opportunity for any student to participate in a regular training programme appropriate to their desire and ability.
- To provide a range of competitive opportunities to allow all Sport members the chance to represent the University.
- To provide an opportunity for members to gain a worthwhile social experience through the sport.
What does a typical season involve?
The season runs over the two semesters.
|1s||Thursday||5.30-7.00pm||Sports Hall 1 - Court 2|
|2s||Thursday||5.30-7.00pm||Sports Hall 1 - Court 2|
|3s||Thursday||5.30-7.00pm||Sports Hall 1 - Court 1|
|Recreational||Wednesday||2.30-4.30pm||Sports Hall 1 - Court 1|
Matches are played on a Saturday as part of the BUCS league; we also have Conference Cup matches throughout the season and a one-off SSS (Scottish Student Sport) Tournament. The CENA team plays games on a Sunday evening.
HWUNC has won Social Club of the Year for the past two years. We provide a social every Wednesday during the semester, including pub crawls, fundraisers, joint events with other SU clubs, as well as sober socials such as bowling, club meals and team bonding. These socials help our new members to settle into the club and provide something to look forward to every week.
How do I join the club?
The cost of joining the club is £15 for current Oriam members with an additional fee of £5 for team members. You can pay this at either Oriam reception or online.
Please come along to a Wednesday session if you are interested in joining, and you can have a go to see if it's the sport for you.
