Heriot-Watt Kayak Club is in its fifth year as an affiliated club, since being a recreational sport. The club is composed of paddlers at all abilities and we aim to cater for everyone to ensure a good time is had by all.
Our club charter:
We aim to provide the following service to all our members:
- To promote kayaking to the student community and attract new members to the sport.
- To provide members with the training they require to enjoy paddlesports safely.
- To facilitate competition for those members so inclined.
What does a typical season involve?
Weekly practice sessions in a local swimming pool, with expert coaching providing a good way develop new skills in the sport as well as building upon existing skills. We meet on Fridays at 6pm in front of the shed next to Oriam, for a session at night which is usually followed by food and drinks in the Students Union.
Trips will be held roughly twice a month during the semester to a variety of rivers throughout Scotland catering for every skill level. ·
Full participation in UK wide kayaking events including the Wet West Paddlefest and the legendary National Student Rodeo.
