Pay for accommodation
If you are a student for a full academic year, you will need to pay a 4-week advance rent payment within 48 hours of accepting your accommodation offer within the accommodation portal. You must accept your offer of accommodation online before paying the advance rent payment. Please log into your accommodation account in order to do so. If you are having trouble paying online please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If we don't receive your advance rent payment within seven days of sending you your offer, then your offer will be invalid and may be cancelled.
Single Semester contracts are required to pay rent in full in advance at the point of accepting a contract. Our systems do not allow smaller amounts to be paid.
Please note by accepting accommodation, you are agreeing to pay the required rent either in full or in instalments as detailed in the contract. Not paying your rent is a breach of the terms and conditions.
Please note that only once you have arrived and are fully enrolled, you can pay any outstanding balance of your accommodation fees either in full or by monthly instalments (recurring card) in the same way that tuition is paid.

Please sign in to our online payments service if you wish to settle your outstanding balance after your arrival on campus.
Paying by monthly instalments (recurring card)
Undergraduates (40 week contract)
Your advance rent payment will be used in settlement of your first instalment payment (September). Your first instalment will be taken on the 25 October. This will be followed by 7 instalments on the 15th of each month in, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May.
Postgraduates (50 week contract)
Your advance rent payment will be used in settlement of your first instalment payment (September). Your first instalment will be taken on the 25 October. This will be followed by 9 further instalments payable on the 15th of each month in, November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June and July.
The instalment value is the total accommodation contract value minus your advance rent payment, divided by the remaining number of instalments. You can set up your recurring card plans via the MyHWU app.

Parent/other third party payer
If you have a parent/other third party payer who wishes to pay by recurring card on your behalf this requires specific permission by yourself for them to see and pay your account.
The below instructions should be followed:-
Log on to the online payment site
To add a parent or other third party payer enter the parent/other parties’ email address and create a password that meets University guidelines. You must also select what type of transactions you want that payer to see which include tuition or accommodation. Once you have entered this, select the Add button.
They will then appear under the Current Authorised Parent/Third Party Accounts.
The system will then send access details to the parent/third party by email. They will be able to log into the online payment system through the parent/third party option, using your HWU Person ID, their own email address and password.
You can log in and change the access at any time for that parent/third party, as well as being able to reset the password by selecting the remove button.
