Textiles

We have established Design for Textiles programmes at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, each encouraging a highly creative approach to textile design. You have options to specialise in printed, woven and knitted textiles.

The main market sectors covered are fashion fabrics, furnishing fabrics, fashion and interior accessories, wall coverings, gallery pieces and gift wrap. There is an emphasis on practice-based exploration, supported by appropriate theory and fabric making production techniques.

At Postgraduate level you will delve into the business processes and function within the industry.

"As a mature student, I relish the opportunity to learn new skills. Based at the Scottish Borders campus which is a beautiful setting, classes are held in a lovely building with stunning views. I feel this helps me with the inspiration and the creativity needed for the course. The practical classes are small and friendly which helps lecturers know us as individuals, giving good, tailored support to each of us. The students on my course help each other with ideas for our individual projects. "
