Antonia Voigt
MA (Hons) International Business Management
Watt Club Medal Winner
Antonia's profile
My years at Heriot-Watt University were shaped significantly by the international exposure while studying in Dubai, Paris and in Edinburgh. Before even attending the Open Day at Heriot-Watt University, I knew that this was the place to come to have an international education, which would prepare me for a business management career anywhere in the world. I will miss some of the highly committed and passionate lecturers. They made every class a joy to attend through using engaging and practical activities and courseworks, which allowed me to applied theoretical knowledge. The Edinburgh campus had everything I needed right in front of my doorstep – from a gym to a fully stocked library, many cafés and a lake with a family of swans. Through my fourth year courses, I found my passion for academic research in management and higher education. I hope to see my future in helping to shape the international higher education sector.

Robert's profile
I am endlessly grateful for the nurturing role that Heriot-Watt has played in guiding me both personally and academically during a highly formative period of my life. Academically, my integrated business and languages degree has matured my analytical and formal writing ability, and given me the opportunity to employ this theory in a practical setting through various projects. Personally, Heriot-Watt has offered me lifelong friendships and it has taught me that stepping out of one's comfort zone is not something to shy away from, but rather to accept it as an opportunity to realise one's adaptability and capability in the face of new, unfamiliar settings. As a whole, I could have not asked for a better place than Heriot Watt to develop myself, and I will use the knowledge and opportunities I have gained here as a launchpad to pursue a career in carbon management, to preserve the nature that we have to thank for our beautiful campus.

Vedhavalli's profile
My time at Heriot-Watt has been absolutely wonderful. From starting my 1st year in the Malaysian campus to joining the Go Global programme and completing my remaining years in Edinburgh. I have been fortunate to make new friends, experience new cultures and benefited the expertise of many lecturers from two campuses. Apart from the actual course, I was able to complete a Bloomberg Markets concept course in the new Bloomberg terminal. Coupled with my main courses, I believe this has set me apart from other candidates when applying for graduate jobs and help set a base to start the next chapter of my life. My aim is to sit for the CFA qualification paper and ultimately become a highly skilled financial analyst in an investment bank. Overall, I have had a beautiful experience at Heriot-Watt and would like to put all my learnings to the best possible use.

I enjoyed the freedom offered by engaged lecturers and manageable class sizes. They allowed us room to explore the topics we were most interested in through class projects and small classes provided ample opportunity for lively debate amongst students and staff. I will miss the encouraging environment provided by the economics department. Staff were always approachable, and were fully invested in a student's success, providing detailed feedback, advice and assistance to help students reach their potential. Edinburgh is an exciting and diverse city, with opportunities of every kind for students to engage with all year round. Sticking around for the summer was always worth it – with Edinburgh playing host to the world's largest arts festival, the city really comes alive!
