What would you say to prospective students considering Heriot-Watt as their first choice of university?

I would tell them that this is the perfect institution to flourish both academically and personally. There is an incredible amount of opportunity to meet people through societies and sports clubs and in the halls of residence. And the opportunities don’t just end in Scotland. Heriot-Watt has partner universities across the globe so you can participate in a year abroad to add an international dimension to your degree.

What are you planning after you graduate?

I’ve always known I wanted to pursue a career in Oceanography and Marine Chemistry. These are where my passions lie. After graduating I have set my objective to gain experience in the petroleum industry in environmental sustainability projects, then progress into a research career with a large oceanography-based organisation such as the International Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) before aspiring to one day working for the United Nations!
