The School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University is seeking a PhD candidate who can demonstrate high levels of academic achievement and strong motivation for doing scientific research. The candidate will work on a project related to material science. The project aims to develop an all-ceramic MEMS micro-device using polymer-derived ceramic material and testing against high temperature environment.

The project is funded by a James Watt Scholarship and Prototype Development Research Grant Scheme (PRGS). A monthly stipend of RM2500 will be provided and tuition fees will be waived for 3 years.

All applicants must have or expect to have at least 1st class Bachelor degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials or other engineering related fields. Selection will be based on academic excellence and research potential. All short-listed applicants will be interviewed (in person or by Skype).
