Tomsk Polytechnic University
Founded in 1896, Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) is the oldest technical educational establishment in the Asian part of Russia. It has contributed to the development of Russian science, education, industry, and culture and is dedicated to providing its students with an education that combines diverse traditions and innovations in higher technical education.

The Petroleum Learning Centre, a joint project of Tomsk Polytechnic University and Heriot-Watt University, was set up to train qualified personnel capable of working in the current Russian petroleum industry. Established in 2001, the Centre implemented innovative postgraduate training programmes, delivering internationally acknowledged MSc degrees. During a year-long curriculum that incorporates various training phases, our students obtain multi-disciplinary theoretical knowledge, master excellent teamwork skills and obtain invaluable experience of independent work addressing actual operation issues of the petroleum industry.
