Tell us about your experience of going through clearing

I was nervous, to say the least and worried that I wouldn’t be accepted. But the process was simple and everyone I spoke to was really nice and helped me a lot with getting through to the right people. It was a quick and simple process, that didn’t take a long time to sort out which I was thankful for.

What advice would you give to a student going through clearing?

The best thing to do is not panic and try not to worry about having to go through clearing. Just relax and pick up the phone, the staff are there to help get you through to the right people. All you need to show is that you are passionate about the course you are asking to get on to, show that although you didn’t get the right grades but you are willing to put the work in. Most of all don’t be worried or upset and remember to breathe, you will be fine.

Why did you choose Heriot-Watt?

I chose Heriot-Watt because of the course, it seemed to appeal to me. I was always interested in psychology at high school and Heriot-Watt looked like a lovely place and friendly campus. I never went there on open days so all I had to look at was the website and what I had heard from people who had been there, they convinced me. It sounded like a really good place to learn and socialise, especially with all the clubs you can join. I’ve been here for 3 years now and I’ve not regretted choosing this university.
