Health and safety

We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of all our students.

While the University will do its upmost to ensure that the campus, and the accommodation within it, is safe and secure, there is also a need for you to take responsibility for staying safe.

On these pages you can:

  • familiarise yourself with our emergency procedures for each campus, including what to do in the event of a fire; and
  • download the relevant guidance leaflet for your campus.

You can find more health and safety advice and support on our SafeGuarding pages or by contacting healthandsafety@hw.ac.uk or calling 0131 451 3900.

SafeZone

SafeZone is a free app-based system for students and staff that enhances their personal safety. SafeZone extends the reach of campus safety and security, to cater for the real time needs of the people who use campus every day. It provides a quick and easy way for users to alert security services, when help or assistance is needed.
