Roles and responsibilities

Olwyn teaches English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to students on applied science, engineering and management degrees. She also teaches courses in research preparation to postgraduate students on Foundation and Pre-Masters Programmes.

Olwyn Alexander worked as a research chemist in the pharmaceutical industry for 15 years before changing career to teach English for specific and academic purposes in further and higher education.

Further information

Olwyn has collaborated with two colleagues to publish a teacher training textbook and two coursebooks in the Access EAP series.

Olwyn was also responsible for overseeing the development of the BALEAP Framework of EAP Teacher Competencies. She was Chair of BALEAP from 2010 to 2013 and Chair of the BALEAP Accreditation Scheme from 2014 to 2019.
