Roles and responsibilities

Ashley Hong is an Assistant Professor with the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society.


Her research areas of interest include Passive Design Strategies, Low Energy Facade, Feng Shui Conception in Architectural Design, Indoor Environmental comfort, Office Building Retrofit, Carbon Footprint in the Built Environment, Vertical Greeneries and Green Building Index. She has presented and published her works at various international conferences and peer-reviewed indexed journals throughout her career. She has also won the Best Paper Award in one of the International conference she participated in


Ashley holds a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) and a Master in Science (Building) from University of Malaya. She attained her highest academic achievement with the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainable Design from the same University. She is also a registered Provisional QS member of the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia.


Ashley started her career in tertiary education in 2005. She has been teaching in various courses in Quantity Surveying and Construction Project Management programmes. Prior to her academic experiences, she has been working with PUBM QS Consultant, Putrajaya Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and  oil and gas construction company for some years. She was also a freelance QS consultant in various projects including the construction of factories, private school buildings, palm oil mill and others.
