October is Diversity Month! Following the success of last year throughout October our Edinburgh and Galashiels Campuses will be marking Diversity Month with a range of activities.
Why October? October brings together a number of celebrations including Black History Month, World Mental Health Day and Ada Lovelace Day. We’ll also be using the month to help raise funds for Breast Cancer charities and the SANE Black Dog Campaign which supports raising awareness of mental health issues and providing services for those who need it.
Some centrepiece activities include:
Bike Breakfast: Edinburgh Campus
On 2nd October our ever popular Bike Breakfast will be making a return, held at the Bike Bothy from 8.30am come and meet other cycling enthusiasts!
Colour Run: Edinburgh Campus
Due to popular demand we are pleased to announced that we will be holding a Colour Run at the Edinburgh campus on 7th October – starting at 10am at Oriam booking is now open.

We are privileged to be screening 'Careless' on Wednesday 10 October 2018 in the Student Union.
The film tells the story of Evie Douglas and addresses a range of mental health issues. We’ll be dedicating time and space for discussion following the screening.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Edinburgh Campus
We have partnered with the NHS Detect Cancer Early team who are going to be delivering a detect breast cancer early seminar on Friday 12th October. It will be an informative session with a few laughs along the way. This is a free session but spaces are limited so please book your slot via Eventbrite.
Local Market: Scottish Borders Campus
We’re holding our first Local Market at the Scottish Borders on 26th October. If you’re in Galashiels come along and check out the goodies available!
There will be lots more happening, Swing Dance sessions, therapets, BSL Local Plan launch, events for Ada Lovelace Day and financial planning. More details will be posted so keep checking back.
