Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus held its Graduation Ceremony at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City, recently, giving the School of Social Sciences another chance to celebrate the efforts of each and every one of our students.

In addition to their hard-earned degrees, our top performing students were awarded special academic prizes at the ceremony where Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development for the United Arab Emirates praised our graduates for demonstrating advances in academia in the UAE.

Four individual prizes were awarded as well subject prizes for the Highest Dissertation Mark and the Highest Overall Score for students from Accountancy and Finance, Business and Finance, International Business Management and Bachelor of Business Administration.

Rashika Nagabhushan receives her prize.

The audience of proud academics, family members and friends will have a lasting impression of one name in particular as Anusha Arif, now a record-breaking student, was called up to receive 6 different prizes.

Anusha Arif receives one of her 6 prizes.

One of those prizes was the Bill Johnston Memorial Prize, an accolade awarded to the student who achieves the best overall performance within the School of Social Sciences from across all campuses - making Anusha the first student from Heriot-Watt’s Dubai Campus to win this prize.

Reflecting on her time at Heriot-Watt University and her academic success, Anusha said,

“Ever since high-school I have always been passionate about marketing and known it was the field I’d pursue for my higher education.”

“I’ve managed to get straight A’s in my first and last year of university and have had a consistent record of topping my assignments and degree program each academic year. Now I am graduating with a first class degree.”

“Although I’m humbly proud of my achievements, I owe much of it to the expert lecturers and teaching staff at Heriot Watt University. They have prepared me and developed my knowledge and application skills, in both theory and practise, which I can leverage and apply in any organisation across the world.”

James Michael Galvin receives his prize.
