Baxters Internships – Craig Imrie; MSc in Business Strategy, Leadership & Change
We updated you last month on the progress of Akshita Bajpai one of our Baxter’s students (read Akshita’s article here : Akshita Bajpai )
Today it’sthe turn of Craig Imrie – a student on the MSc in Business Strategy, Leadership & Change. Craig has been working at the Baxters Fochabers factory for his dissertation project and has been having a very productive time.
“I visited the Fochabers site for a factory tour, which allowed me to follow the process of manufacturing the various products. It was also an opportunity to see the various improvements since the last time I visited in September. While in Fochabers I had an opportunity to meet several employees, and discuss my dissertation and the projects I will be working on.”
Craig has been working on reviewing HR policies with the view to updating ethical considerations, and as part of this, he has participated in Modern Slavery and Ethical Trading Awareness training. This training session gave him a unique opportunity to gain experience and awareness in preventing hidden labour exploitation as well as understanding current best practice. Craig notes that:
“This knowledge and awareness is becoming increasingly sought by employers as growing consumer awareness and Governmental legislations demand greater care and efforts by organisations.”
Craig has been working with the team at Fochabers in assessing leadership, emotional and social competency reports for employees in key leadership roles, throughout Europe and the US. He has gained an insight into the importance of these practices and how they are used to align the wider company strategy and development and succession planning. Craig was invited to attend a quarterly staff briefing which gave him a valuable insight into the working functions and outputs of the various different departments, all coming together to discuss and enact wider business strategies.
