|Girls in Computer Science||Wednesday 22nd February||
50 years ago Heriot-Watt University became the first in Scotland to offer a degree in Computer Science. To continue our celebrations we hosted 50 female school students for an afternoon of learning, fun and interaction with our robots.
|Women in Robotics||Wednesday 8th March||As part of International Women's Day on the 8th March we showcased some of the work carried out by our female staff and students in the field of Robotics.|
|Guides & Brownies in a Robotic World||Wednesday 15th March||
Guides and Brownies from across Scotland visited Heriot-Watt to meet some of our robots and the scientists working to create the future.
This event took place as part of British Science Week and was supported by the British Science Association.
|European Robotics Forum (ERF 2017)||Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th March||
This 3-day event attracted over 800 delegates comprising researchers, engineers, managers, entrepreneurs, and public and private sector investors in robotics R&D.
The event was hosted by the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics and attracted a variety of media attention.
|Multilingual Debate||Wednesday 22nd March||
"This House believes that robots will soon be a positive and defining feature of our daily lives".
Heriot-Watt University's Multilingual Debate is an annual event showcasing the interpreting skills and developing professional skills of our students in the School of Social Sciences (SoSS). The teams deliver their views in their various native languages (French, German, Spanish, English, Arabic, Chinese, British Sign Language (BSL).

Speakers and delegates from around the world met in Brazil to discuss recent developments and applications in the field of robotics on energy, industry, environment, agriculture, health and social settings.

EISF invites you to 'Get Connected' to science, to one another and to the global community, as we attempt to secure the sustainable future we want to inhabit.

The Pint of Science Festival brings some of the most brilliant scientists to your local pub to discuss their latest research and findings with you.

The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) is hosting a series of public lectures in 2017 with a programme based around Scotland's Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology.
Innovation Robotics will take place in June ahead of UK Robotics Week; welcoming keynote speakers from Heriot-Watt University and the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics - Professor Ruth Aylett and Dr Thusha Rajendran.

The Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas, brought to you by the Beltane Public Engagement Network is debate, discussion and discourse in the company of some of the fiercest intellects that Scotland has to offer – all within a yurt!
The Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas first ran at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe, and has got bigger and better every year!

|Doors Open Day @ the Lyell Centre||September||Doors Open Days give you free access to hundreds of fascinating buildings across Scotland, every weekend in September. This year Heriot-Watt will open the doors of the Lyell Centre to those who would like to find out more about the interdisciplinary work we do their in relation to the area of robotics.|
|Meet the Robots @ Explorathon||September||
Explorathon is an annual event involving academics, school pupils and the public on one night across Europe to celebrate and showcase the best innovative and developmental research.

|ROBOTARIUM West Launch Event||Thursday 12th October||
ROBOTARIUM West will officially launch in October this year. The national facility will be available to researchers and companies across the UK.Further details will be announced shortly.
|Scottish Parliamentary Reception||November||
This dynamic, hands on and interactive event will give Heriot-Watt an opportunity to engage with MSPs from across Scotland, with the intention of increasing awareness and understanding of the potential for robotics in Scotland.
