In May this year, MACS academic Dr Jessica Chen-Burger gave an invited talk at a cross-party group meeting on Taiwan at the Scottish Parliament. The purpose of the meeting was to understand previous research collaboration between UK and Taiwan, and to establish new collaboration.
Attendees included MSPs, members of Taiwanese Consulate in Edinburgh, members and the head of the Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce Scotland and scholars from the University of Edinburgh. There were also remote inputs from Dr Shih, the director of the National Center for High Performance Computing (NCHC), Dr. Fang Pang Lin, the Manager of the NCHC.
Several possible ways forward were proposed during the meeting and have since been followed up with an introductory meeting between Taiwanese consulate Director Su, NCHC Director Shih, Dr. Lin and Dr. Chen-Burger in July when Jessica Chen-Burger visited NCHC as a part of her research collaboration trip to Taiwan.
