MACS is very pround to announce that four of our academics have been nominated in the sixth annual Heriot Watt University Student Union Learning and Teaching Oscars.

Congratulations to our mathematicians who have been nominated in the following categories:

Professor Nick Gilbert for the Switched On Award - Most Engaging Lecturer

Exciting, enthusiastic, dynamic, makes the difficult easy, relates material, provides practical examples, has a feel for students, tailors material, adaptability.

Professor Andy White for the Refreshing Award - Most Innovative Lecturer

Practical assessments, delivery method, techniques, enjoyable, creative, use of vision.

Professor Dugald Duncan for the Thinkers Award - Most Challenging Lecturer

Challenging, encourages self-learning and critical thinking, stimulates debate and interest, students are challenged to give their best and beyond.

Professor Jim Howie for the Feedback Award

Creative, prompt, useful or innovative use of feedback

The results will be announced at the Oscar Ceremony at the Student Union on 13 May.
