Heriot-Watt were pleased to welcome Minister Counsellor Jin Xu from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on an official visit as part of Premier Li's “Made in China 2025” strategy to discover more about Heriot-Watt's relationship with industry. The "Made in China 2025" initiative, discussed recently at the National People's Congress, is intended to elevate the perception of Chinese goods from “made in China” to “innovated in China.”

Jin Xu, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce's most senior representative in the UK, was visiting Scotland for the first time. The day kicked off with a visit to Heriot-Watt's Scottish Confucius Institute for Business and Communication after which Mr Jin Xu was met by Professor Nick Taylor from the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, who took the Minister and his delegation on a tour of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics facilities in MACS and EPS so he could learn more about our state of the art autonomous intelligent robotics and human-robot interaction research.
