African Institute for Mathematical Sciences

The Maths department has been an active supporter of the African Institutes for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) for over a decade.

Every year Maths staff have taught intensive three-months courses at AIMS centres in South Africa, Ghana and Senegal.

Maths Professor Bernd Schroers chairs the Academic Advisory Board at AIMS-Ghana, and over 20 AIMS alumni have come to MACS for their PhDs.

MACS, via the ICMS, also administers the James-Clerk-Maxwell AIMS Fund, paid for by the Scottish Funding Council, which compensates departments which release staff for AIMS teaching. For further information please follow the above links, or contact Bernd Schroers.
