Chemical Engineering holds several Applicants’ Visit Days usually throughout March and April and additionally welcomes groups of students from schools by arrangement at mutually convenient times. The scheduled Applicants’ Visit Days are for students who have applied for a place on one of our undergraduate courses. Parents or guardians are also very welcome to attend all or part of the days activities and discussions.
What happens on an Applicants’ Visit Days ?
The day starts with an introduction to University life at Heriot-Watt University at the University Applicant Day welcome. This is normally followed by information sessions that may include 'a Student Life' by the Students Union and Sports Union representatives, details about our Accommodation and Student Support Service, and Student Finances.
We then invite you for a brief presentation about Chemical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University followed by a student-led guided tour showing some of our teaching and research facilities. Lunch is provided, during which there is a chance to chat informally with members of staff and current students. Throughout the day there will be a the chance to ask us about any aspect of student life. The day finishes at around 3.15 p.m. with tea or coffee and informal discussions with members of staff, course directors and students. The afternoon also offers the chance to see around our Campus through centrally organised tours.
We believe that it is very important that you choose a University and Department where you will be happy and able to fulfill your potential. One of the best ways to help make this decision is to visit the Universities concerned and we very much hope you will be able to accept this invitation to visit us.
