Future quantum technology will combine a variety of physical architectures, harvesting the benefits of a range of diverse condensed-matter nanostructures such as quantum dots, nano-mechanics, or superconductors, while avoiding their inherent drawbacks. The common denominator between these systems is that they can all be interfaced with light.
The goal of this PhD project is to coherently interface semiconductor quantum dots emitting in the near-infrared wavelength regime to entangled broadband quantum bits in the telecom regime. This low-loss quantum bus will enable a range of applications in advanced quantum communication and quantum information processing.
