Advanced endoscopic imaging modalities

Through this project, you will work with collaborators at the Queen's Medical Research Institute (QMRI) in Edinburgh to develop advanced endoscopic techniques, capably of "seeing" tumours in the clinic, without the requirement for fluorescent labelling. These techniques will enable the clinician to take biopsies more accurately during diagnosis, and resect tumours more safely during surgery. You will work on optics, fibre-optcs, detectors and instrumentation development, and in a highly multidisciplinary environment, with clinicians, biologists and physicists. You will be based at both Heriot Watt and the QMRI.
