IB3 hosted its Away Day in Norton House Hotel where members of the institute had an opportunity to learn about the breadth of research within the institute as well as related research from throughout Heriot Watt and the local area.
Prof. Vicki Stone participated in a two-da meeting at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, aimed to improve ways to obtain the safety information needed for a successful use of nanomaterials by different sectors.
Prof. Rory Duncan has won the Royal Soceity of Edinburgh's 2018 Senior Public Engagement Prize for his passion and enormously productive advocacy for public engagement in Scotland, the UK and internationally.

The Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering runs a weekly seminar series throughout the year given by institute members and external invited speakers.
