Cancer-under-microscope

The World Health Organisation has announced 2020-2030 as Decade of Healthy Ageing - an area of particular research strength and capacity at Heriot-Watt.

We have a truly multi-disciplinary approach to health-related research, breaking down traditional discipline and thought barriers to bring new perspectives to a common challenge. This work extends from fundamental science to applied engineering and involves multiple spin-outs and industry partnerships.

This year, we are celebrating our Year of Health, promoting and sharing our health-related research spanning biological engineering, biophysics, computer science, mathematical biology, cancer biology, psychology, environmental health, neuroscience, rehabilitation technologies and the design of age-friendly cities for resilient communities.

Throughout 2019, a calendar of engagement spanning schools, communities, businesses and government, will highlight the university’s research and the ground-breaking discoveries that drive innovations in healthcare, diagnosis and treatment.

Our Public Engagement team will be sharing our research at family events, public talks, festivals and more - see the full programme of events at Year of Health.
