Edinburgh International Science Festival

The University has been involved in the Edinburgh International Science Festival for many years as a Funding Partner. In 2017, we were delighted to be taking part in multiple events around the city to celebrate the HWU Year of Robotics.

The Pints of Science Festival brings some of the most brilliant scientists to your local pub to discuss their latest research and findings with you. You don't need any prior knowledge, and this is your chance to meet the people responsible for the future of science (and have a pint with them).

Carfest

The Year of Robotics team were delighted to have been invited to attend CarFest North in Cheshire. The team demonstrated the fun side of our robotics work; with interactive demos and activities for all ages.

We opened the doors to the Lyell Centre at Heriot-Watt, for the public to come in and meet some of our researchers and robots and see what the future for robotics research holds!

As part of EU Researchers Night, Heriot-Watt's robots headed off to Ocean Terminal as part of Leith Labs, allowing the public to see what the future will bring for robots and us.

This dynamic, hands on and interactive event gave Heriot-Watt an opportunity to engage with MSPs from across Scotland, with the intention of increasing awareness and understanding of the potential for robotics in Scotland.
