Creating social impact by promoting and exploiting cultural and linguistic diversity in science

Native Scientist is a non-profit enterprise that connects immigrant pupils and scientists to tackle educational disadvantage and promote science and language literacy.

They organise school workshops that bring together international scientists and pupils to speak about science in their heritage language. Since its foundation in 2013, Native Scientist has organised 100+ workshops in 9 different languages, reaching over 2,000 pupils. By partnering with Native Scientist, Heriot-Watt University gives its international students and researchers the opportunity to do science outreach, meet peers, train communication skills and increase the impact of their work.
