Dr Jimmy Tam

Biography

Jimmy Tam the Assistant Professor in Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia. He has been teaching for more than a decade in Accounting and Finance courses. He earns his Doctorate Degree in 2019. Jimmy’s research is primarily concerned with accounting within the performance measurement context. He is particularly interested in studying the phenomena commercialisation of R&D outputs in the Higher Education Institutions. He has contributed to the policy for Higher Education on commercialisation of R&D outputs in Malaysia. In 2018, he became the member of Malaysian Society For Higher Education Policy and Research Development that aims to provide informed feedback and suggestion toward issues regarding the national higher education policies and practices.

Background

Prior to this, Jimmy held academic positions in 2 private universities in Malaysia. He was a visiting lecturer in one of the Higher Education Institution in China. In addition to academic position, he held administrative positions as Programme Coordinator and Head of Programme for accounting and finance department.

Awards

In 2017, Jimmy received the Best Paper Award in the Asian Conference on Innovation and Policy for the paper entitled “Critical Factors of Successful Commercialization of R&D Outputs in Seven Malaysian Universities.”
