Software Carpentry aims to help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

The course consists of two full-day workshops on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th December.

You need to be available on both days in order to attend it.

You don't need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop.

This two day workshop will cover:

  • Automating tasks with the Unix Shell
  • An introduction to Python
  • Version Control with git
  • Data Analysis and Visualisation in Python
