Shoppers at one of Edinburgh's most prestigious department stores helped the Scottish Confucius Institute for Business and Communication celebrate Chinese New Year in style this week.
More than 100 people turned up to Jenners to try their hand at lantern making, painting and typography to celebrate the Year of the Pig.
The event was part of a series of initiatives taking place to promote the work of the Institute, which is based at Heriot-Watt University.
Dr Isabel Hui Liu, deputy director of the Scottish Confucius Institute said: “We were delighted to see a great turn out for our special event and the enthusiasm for people to get involved in Chinese cultural activities.
“The crowds were especially impressed with the music, which was played throughout the day on a Chinese zither.
“These events are all not only about promoting our work but the close links between Scotland and China.”
Chinese New Year is a celebration of the new year according to the lunar calendar, sharing many similarities with Scotland's own Christmas and Hogmanay traditions.
