Last week there was plenty to celebrate during Celebration Week in the beautiful surroundings of Hermiston House at the Edinburgh Campus.

Celebration Week is an annual opportunity to celebrate excellence together, taking pride in the achievements of our students, staff and alumni from across our globally connected university. The week includes a selection of events, which allow us to celebrate our successes in shaping tomorrow together.

The week kick-started with an event to say thank you to everyone involved in Athena Swan applications over the last year and to celebrate Mary Burton's 200th Birthday.

The Global Values Awards events were an opportunity to celebrate examples of how we are living and demonstrating our refreshed values. New colleagues and staff who reached 25 years' service were also invited to special events.

During the week, Campus Walks and Cycle to Work Breakfast events encouraged staff to exercise in a fun group setting. Despite the wet weather, around 50 walkers, cyclist and joggers braved the elements to take part.

Celebrating the contribution of our Research and Enterprise and Learning and Teaching communities was also part of events held during the week.

Key collaborations were also celebrated at various events throughout the week. A Partner Celebration dinner provided an opportunity to meet with the University's leading researchers and celebrate the relationships that have helped us develop talent, drive innovation and pioneer research. The Alumni and Development “Watt A Difference” event brought donors, scholars, alumni and academics together to celebrate the difference they have made to Heriot-Watt.

There were also three coffee café events throughout the week, which saw around 70 people in total attend. The various events focused on the history of Heriot-Watt buildings, an introduction to British Sign Language and poetry readings.

In between the various events, many colleagues tried out croquet on the Hermiston House lawn or perused the Year of Health Photographic Exhibition in the Hermiston House Conservatory. This was on display for the duration of the week and provided an insight into the ground-breaking research taking place at Heriot-Watt.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make these events such a success.
