Heriot-Watt University has been ranked in the top 500 universities worldwide, for the second year.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) also rates the university, which has campuses in the UK, Malaysia and Dubai, in the top 40 universities in the UK, ranking 35-39.

Commenting on the latest result, Professor Richard A. Williams, Vice-Chancellor and Principal said: “We're pleased to see this latest ranking. For new students joining us this year, and for anyone going through Clearing at the moment, this ranking is further evidence that our quality research and teaching is internationally recognised.”

The scoring is based on institutions who have Nobel Laureates, Fields Medallists, Highly Cited Researchers or papers published in top science journals, Nature or Science.

In addition, universities with a significant amount of papers indexed by Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) are also included.

Heriot-Watt University is currently International University of the Year by the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
