IPE team wins prestigious international award

A top team from Heriot-Watt's Shell Centre of Exploration Geoscience has won a major international prize at the Petroleum Exploration Technology Exhibition (PETEX) Conference.

The award-winning presentation took place in in Olympia, London and was delivered by Dr Rachel Brackenridge on behalf of her co-authors and project Principal Investigators, Dr Rachel Jamieson and Professor John Underhill.

It represents the culmination of a two-year study investigating the geological evolution of the Mid North Sea High area as part of the Oil and Gas Authority's Frontier Basins Research effort.

The PETEX meeting is a Biennial event that has become the largest subsurface-focused exploration and production conference and exhibition in the UK.

It was attended by over 3,500 delegates this year and the talk was voted the best technical presentation out of 240 talks and posters delivered at the meeting.
