Dubai student honoured in worldwide technology and training competition

Heriot-Watt Students won an Xplore New Automation Award

A student from Dubai has been recognised in a worldwide technology and training competition.

Nithin Sha Najeeb, a fourth year student from the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences and mentor Dr Soori Prashant Kumar, worked tirelessly to achieve the prestigious Xplore New Automation Award 2018 award.

The project, in the Environment category for Smart Technology Solar Panel Cleaning using Air Water Gun & OFF Grid Electrification, was chosen from 150 international submisions from 34 countries - and the team came third.

Their journey began back in 2017 with a proposal submission to Phoenix Contact Germany for a potential consideration at the Awards.

After being funded €3000 for equipment - their dream became a reality and they were rewarded third place in the international compeition.
