Heriot-Watt has hosted the annual conference for the Natural Environment Research Council's Centre for Doctoral Training in Oil and Gas. Held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, PhD students from 17 different universities, including Heriot-Watt, showcased their research to 180 delegates drawn from industry, government and academia.

Heriot-Watt's Chief Scientist and The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT)'s Academic Director, Professor John Underhill said: "The CDT Conference has now become a fixture in the annual calendar of geoscience events. It provides the perfect platform for academic-industry collaboration and the sheer scale of the event attests to the success of the programme which now has 128 PhD students based at 17 UK universities."
