Chinese students and staff celebrating Chinese Lantern Festival at Tang Palace Restaurant

Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus, along with the support of the Scottish Confucius Institute celebrated the Chinese Lantern Festival on the 2nd of March 2018.

The Lantern Festival or the Spring Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. Usually falling in February or early March on the Gregorian calendar, it marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations.

The event was hosted at the Tang Palace Restaurant in Jumeirah and saw a huge gathering of Chinese students, both from the University and Dubai as a whole. The evening was absolutely delightful with team building activities, like guessing lantern riddles, singing, raffle drawing, and beautiful dance performaces.

Our Provost, Professor Ammar Kaka spoke on our diverse and wide culture and how Heriot-Watt is home to students from all across the globe. The celebrations ended with dinner and photo sessions.
