Heriot-Watt University has been shortlisted in the Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year category of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2017.
The University submitted its application for successfully implementing a truly global Learning and Teaching Strategy. It included a coherent vision and plan for enhancement across a global network of five campuses with over 200 partners and over 10,000 independent distance learning students.
To be shortlisted for such a prestigious award is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of all those concerned right across the University.
As a global institution, with campuses in the UK, Dubai and Malaysia, the University used various methods of communicating the core elements of the Learning and Teaching Strategy to staff and students. The visual image of the plan, which is in itself innovative, was particularly effective in disseminating the Vision, Four Strategic Objectives and Four Organisational Enablers.
The final awards will be presented at a dinner at the Grosvenor Hotel in London in June.

To be shortlisted for such a prestigious award is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of all those concerned right across the University.
“It is a great privilege to have reached this stage, but we will of course be keeping our fingers crossed for the full awards ceremony in June!”
Heriot-Watt University is one of only two Scottish universities to appear in THE's 'Golden Age' rankings. The publication released a list of the world's best universities established between 1945 and 1966, – what THE describes as the 'Golden Age' in global higher education, characterised by rapid university expansion and increasing investment in research.
